On the recent history topic "December 1989. Return to democracy", students had to imagine another outcome of the events of 1989: What would have happened if the 1989 Revolution had not taken place in Romania?

The practice involves rewriting history, alternative scenarios, role-playing games. The students were divided into 4 groups, each group creating an alternative scenario to the moment of 1989 in political, social, cultural, educational terms.

The students found the activity interesting, they reflected on the advantages of democracy compared to a totalitarian regime that could have continued if the 1989 Revolution in Romania had not taken place.

Yes, the activity can be replicated in all 11th and 12th grades. It can also be used in other subjects in both high school and middle school.
